Opus One was founded in 1978 as a partnership between Chateau Mouton, one of the top five Bordeaux wineries, and Robert Mondavi, the most famous wine merchant in the United States. Work No. 1 can be said to be one of the masterpieces of New World high-end wines and one of the top 100 famous wines in the world. This bottle of Opus No. 1 from 2000 has an elegant aroma, with various flavors such as cinnamon, blackberry, cherry and oak mixed in but with distinct layers. The wine is full-bodied and has tight tannins, and its charm is comparable to that of the five major wineries.
