Fundraiser: Art Gallery of Peterborough Hosts Online Auction

The Peterborough Art Gallery (AGP) has announced the return of the It’s All About ART online auction. The presenting sponsor this year is George Ripoll, BMO Private Wealth. The online auction kicks off for auctions on November 5 and ends at 9 p.m. on November 20.

“Everyone is invited to join the AGP and its sponsors in raising funds for programs that bring inspiring and insightful contemporary art and education to our community. This is a great opportunity for individuals to build their collection with original works of art while supporting living artists, ”said a press release for the event.

The auction is accompanied by a preview exhibition, which will open on October 21, where you can view the work and confirm your favorites before placing your bids. A selection of artwork available from the auction can also be previewed online by visiting agp.on.ca/events-listing-page/its-all-about-art/. More work is added each week.

The Peterborough Art Gallery is open to the public by appointment Thursday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. To reserve your viewing time, call the Gallery at 705-743-9179. Full booking details are available at

Porch pirates for good

The Peterborough Porch Pirates for Good are back with their Trick or Eat Community Challenge and Corporate Food Drive to benefit Kawartha Food Share.

Community members are asked to leave their non-perishable food donations in a bag on their porch at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Volunteers will pick them up and deliver them to Kawartha Food Share. Local businesses can also participate and organize the collection of their donations during the day on Friday.

Items needed include peanut butter, applesauce, canned tuna, pasta, pasta sauce, canned soup and stew, nut free granola bars, rice, mac and cheese. Other items needed are infant formula, feminine hygiene products, and diapers.

Financial donations are also accepted. Every $ 1 donated to Kawartha Food Share gives them purchasing power of $ 6. Write a check to include with your pickup or donate online, indicating that you support the Porch Pirates Food Challenge, at kawarthafoodshare.com/donations.

Kawartha Food Share is the central emergency food distribution hub for 37 Peterborough and County food banks, food cabinets and meal programs that help feed more than 7,700 men, women and children per month. They also provide healthy snacks to 46 area school breakfast programs.

Mac and cheese party

There is still time to try some delicious mac and cheese dishes and help Kawartha Food Share at the same time. The Peterborough Macaroni and Cheese Festival continues at 18 downtown restaurants through October 31. Try exclusive mac and cheese dishes, then vote for your favorite online to determine the mac and cheese champion.

Each participating restaurant also hosts a food drive for Kawartha Food Share, so bring non-perishable food items to donate on your visit.
