Humane Society of Cambria County Holds Live, Silent Auctions Online | Coronavirus

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Humane Society of Cambria County is moving fundraising to a virtual platform with its first “Paws for a Cause Online Silent & Live Auction”.

To kick off the event, the silent auction portion will begin at noon on November 2 and run through November 13.

The live auction portion will take place at 7 p.m. on November 13.

Businesses and animal lovers donated lottery tickets, jewelry, gym membership, Apple iPad, YETI cooler and vacation for four to the Hilton Grand Vacations Club, said Executive Director Jessica Vamos.

A list of all items for the silent and live auctions will be available on Friday.

“Our shelter is very grateful to continue to receive this type of support at a time when many are experiencing financial stress,” said Vamos. “We are absolutely amazed at the generosity of our community.”

COVID-19 has forced the Humane Society to cancel its annual “Claws & Paws Cash Bash”. One of the organization’s biggest fundraisers, the “Claws & Paws Cash Bash” grossed over $ 10,000 last year, she said.

“With our spending on the rise and our available funds on the decline, our mission becomes more difficult to accomplish,” said Vamos.

Those who wish to bid on items for both auctions must register. The event page can be viewed at or by browsing the organization’s website or Facebook page.

Upon registration, credit card information will be requested and kept on file for the live auction. This information will be requested separately during the silent auction, during a donation or during other event raffles.
