Online Auction Kicks Off Before WSCC Student Investment Lunch | New


Before lunch on November 17, Wallace State Community College Future Foundation, an online auction is running until November 11. The online auction is separate from the investment lunch and attendance at the lunch is not required to participate in this auction.

Items available in the online auction include international and domestic travel packages; an electric guitar signed by Eagles band members Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Randy Meisner, Don Felder and Glen Frey; autographed posters of Star Wars and Star Trek; culinary experiences; home decoration; and more.

Proceeds from the online auction and Student Investment Luncheon support Wallace State Scholarships.

“Together Again” is the theme of the November 17th Investment Student Luncheon.

“We are delighted to be able to meet again with our supporters and the students who benefit from the scholarships they offer,” said Suzanne Harbin, vice president for advancement and innovation. “The luncheon provides over $ 200,000 per year for Wallace State Scholarships. For the 2021-2022 academic year, we were able to award 212 students over $ 347,000 in scholarship funds.

“I can’t tell you how much these scholarships mean to the students who receive them,” Harbin added. “Sometimes even what may seem like a small amount makes a huge difference to a student who is trying to complete school and needs help overcoming a financial hurdle. I am honored whenever we can help a student achieve a dream or achieve a goal they have set for themselves.

Live and silent auctions will also take place during the investment lunch and will include more international and domestic travel options, sports memorabilia, homemade baked goods, handicrafts, a special themed section. Christmas and more.

Some of the handcrafted items include a hand pieced lion quilt donated by Carol Steel and Alabama and Auburn themed baby clothes. Sports memorabilia include a football signed by Paul “Bear” Bryant and other Alabama football players and coaches. In the Christmas section, Brooke Desnoes, a Wallace State dance instructor, donated a “The Nutcracker” themed basket that includes tickets to a performance of one of the performances of “The Nutcracker Clara’s Dream. At the Allegro Dance Theater scheduled for November 19-21. And local decorator Michael Richards donates his vacation decorating services.

There will also be a “Buy Now” section, where participants can immediately purchase selected items without participating in the bidding process. Several trips, a champagne and cheese package are among the items offered in the “Buy now” section.

The Student Investment Lunch will take place on Wednesday, November 17, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Traditions Bank Arena at the Tom Drake Coliseum.
