Results of the Sotheby’s Geneva Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels auction of May 10, 2022


Sotheby’s Geneva Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels May 10, 2022, live auction with a total of 200 lots consisting of iconic creations from the world’s most prestigious jewelry houses, such as Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier, Bulgari, Oscar Heyman & Bros, Jar and others and also presenting beautiful lots of colored diamonds, exceptional lots of colored stones and magnificent jewelery from the beginning of the 19e century to the present, achieved a total sale of US$36.4 million, selling 146 of the 200 lots offered for auction, or approximately 73% of the total lots.

Lot 393 – Rare and Magnificent Intense Violet-pink Diamond Fashion Ring.

The top lot of the sale was lot 393 – Rare and beautiful Fancy Intense Purple-pink diamond ring – sold in the estimate of CHF 4,190,000 – 6,000,000 for CHF 5,609,900 equivalent to 5.6 million USD.

Ring size 50, 18k white gold ring is set with one rectangular VVS2 clarity VVS2 clarity diamond in modified brilliant cut, fancy intense pink weighing 7.17 carats, framed in brilliant cut diamonds on the shoulders and hoop top of the ring. Accent diamonds weighing 0.58 carats are approximately FG color and VS clarity.

GIA report no. 2173198527 accompanying the lot indicates that the center diamond is Fancy Intense Purple-Pink, Natural Color, VVS2 Clarity. The diamond type classification letter also accompanying the lot indicates that the diamond has been determined to be Type IIa.

The second top lot of the sale was Lot 356 – Rare and Exceptional Type IIa Pale Pink Diamond Ring – which also sold in the estimate of CHF 930,000 – 1,400,000 for CHF 1,134,000 equivalent to 1 .1 million USD.

Ring size 50, platinum ring, is claw set with a cushion brilliant pale pink diamond weighing 12.39 carats, flanked by tapered baguette cut diamonds on the shoulders of the ring.

GIA report no. 2223179368 accompanying the lot, states that the cushion brilliant cut diamond weighing 12.39 carats and measuring 15.94 x 13.03 x 8.01 mm, is pale pink, natural color and VVS1 clarity. A working diagram accompanying the report indicates that the diamond may be internally flawless after minor repolishing. A Type IIa diamond grading letter also accompanies the report.

Lot 382 – Stunning diamond ring | Schroeder, with an estimate of CHF 885,000 -1,400,000, was the next highlight of the sale. The lot sold within the limits of the estimate for CHF 1,115,100 equivalent to USD 1.1 million.

Ring size 51, 18 karat white gold ring, signed Schroeder is set with a pear-shaped diamond, color D, clarity VS-1, weighing 15.66 carats, the setting and the claws enhanced with brilliant-cut diamonds.

GIA report no. 2221179365 indicates that the pear brilliant cut diamond weighing 15.66 carats, measuring 21.70 x 14.38 x 8.98mm, is D color and VS1 clarity. Total weight of accent diamonds approximately 3.00 carats, average GI color and VS clarity, as calibrated and graduated in setting.

The next highlight of the sale is lot 345 – An eye-catching diamond ring with a presale estimate of CHF 540,000-610,000, which sold slightly above the top estimate for CHF 630,000, or $630,189.

Ring size 51, the platinum ring is prong set with an oval brilliant cut diamond, E color, VS-1 clarity, weighing 11.11 carats, flanked by tapered baguette cut diamonds on the shoulders of the ring.

GIA report no. 2185909299 accompanying the lot indicates that the oval cut diamond weighing 11.11 carats, with dimensions of 19.12 x 12.20 x 7.35 mm, is E color and VS1 clarity.

A lot of colored gemstones by Harry Winston is the next highlight of the sale, bearing lot no. 383 and titled Harry Winston – Attractive Sapphire and Diamond Ring, with an estimate of CHF 500,000-800,000. The lot sold within the valuation for CHF 630.00 equivalent to USD 630.189.

Ring size 57, The platinum ring is double-claw set with a step-cut Burmese blue sapphire, weighing 39.12 carats, set off by an entourage of colorless pear-shaped diamonds.

SSEF report no. 121028, indicates that the step-cut sapphire weighing 39.12 carats, measuring 17.41 x 15.30 x 13.41 mm, is of Burmese origin, without any trace of heating. Total diamond weight approximately 6.00-7.00 carats, medium color GH, clarity VS, as calibrated and graded in setting.

The white metal pendant, owned by a Lady, is claw set with an old mine brilliant cut fancy yellow diamond weighing 51.15 carats. GIA report no. 6203517746, indicates that the brilliant cut diamond from the old mine, weighing 51.15 carats, measuring 23.25 x 23.19 x 13.61 mm, is Fancy Yellow, Natural Color, SI-1 Clarity.

The next highlight of the sale is a lot signed by Oscar Heyman & Bros bearing lot no. Brothers, around 1927, with an estimate of CHF 470,000 – 745,000. The Lot sold above the high estimate for CHF 1,441,500 equivalent to USD 1.44 million.

GIA report no. 6224378306, indicates that the step cut diamond, weighing 11.26 carats, measuring 16.11 x 11.60 x 6.83 mm, is D color and VVS1 clarity. Also accompanied by a type IIa classification letter.

Finger size 51, the 18-carat white gold ring is claw-set with a double oval cabochon in very translucent jadeite weighing 24.86 carats, in a shiny emerald green color.

SSEF report no. 120878, indicates that the cabochon jadeite, weighing 24.86 carats, measuring 20.75 x 17.50 x 9.08 mm, is of Burmese origin, without signs of impregnation, and can be called “jadeite-jade (Fei Cui) type A” in trade and the color may also be called “Imperial Green” in trade.
