Ronald McDonald House cancels gala, pivots to hot online auction

The Ronald McDonald Houses of Greater Chattanooga Charity has decided to cancel the Red Hot Red Striped 30th Anniversary Gala scheduled for November 6 at the Westin. They will conduct the Red Hot online auction. The auction will go live on October 29 and close on November 8. Check out the Facebook event page for more information ahead of the auction and get ready to bid.

“This decision was made with the realities of public health in mind in our community and the surrounding areas we serve,” said Jane Kaylor, President and CEO. “These factors included COVID transmission rates, hospitalizations, deaths and vaccination rates. The concern for the health and safety of the participants and the staff and volunteers of the House who provide a vital service to the families of seriously ill children was at the basis of this decision. ”

The 30th anniversary gala and auction was originally scheduled for November 2020 and canceled due to the pandemic. Funds from the canceled event and the Red Hot online auction will be used to help renovate the main kitchen and dining room at Ronald McDonald House. The kitchen is original from the 1990 building and the only renovation since then has been the replacement of appliances in 2000. Sponsors and those who purchased tables and seats at the event were asked to transfer their pledge towards the kitchen renovation project.

“The Ronald McDonald House of Chattanooga invites the public to join the auction to support this important project and its mission of supporting families with a home away from home for many years to come,” said responsible.
