Silent auction of movie memorabilia raises money for Ukraine

Oakville Cinema Film.Ca Cinemas is hosting an online silent auction of movie memorabilia to raise funds for the Canada-Ukraine Foundation to support relief efforts in Ukraine.

The silent auction is accepting bids until Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at 11:45 p.m. for prize bundles and collectibles from several different movies that played in theaters last year. Prizes include t-shirts, stationery, posters, backpacks and luggage, clothing, books, DVDs and more.

This continues the cinema’s efforts of the past few weeks to raise money for the cause: they also accepted donations at the snack bar, raised funds with their annual Oscar watch party two weeks ago and sold tickets for Ukrainian film. Guideall profits will be donated.

In addition to the individual items, nine prize bundles are offered as auction lots, each themed around a different 2021 film:

The auction is taking place via an online charity website 32 bids. All bids must be placed online with an account. At the end of the first day, already over $250.00 has been bid on all items.

“We stand with the Ukrainian people and our Ukrainian friends and neighbors here at home,” the cinema said in a statement. “In order to support them, we decided to organize this auction of great movie gifts!”

More information about the auction and bidding can be made on the auction’s website here.
