Hit the band

The Hazel Dell Parade of Bands will parade through the city from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, starting at Clark County Fire District 6, 8800 NE Hazel Dell Ave. The parade includes high school marching bands from across the northwest as well as equestrian floats and entries. The route (Hazel Dell Avenue, Northeast 63rd Street from Hazel Dell Avenue to Highway 99, and Highway 99 to 78th Street) will be closed to cars but open to parade spectators. DOGPAW, a nonprofit that operates four off-leash dog parks in Clark County, will hold a silent auction from 5-8 p.m. Monday at JB’s Taphouse & Grill, 2011 SE 192nd Ave., Camas. Loving Them Forward will host a tea party fundraiser at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Vancouver Church, 3300 NE 78th St., Vancouver. Attendees eat lunch while learning more about Loving Them Forward, a nonprofit that supports caregivers in Clark County. The menu includes soup, sandwiches, quiche, scones with jam and cream, various desserts and teas. Tickets are $30 at lovethemforward.org or 360-524-4344.

The Watershed Alliance of Southwest Washington holds monthly beach cleanups at Frenchman’s Bar Regional Park, 9612 NW Lower River Road, Vancouver. Volunteers will help pick up litter along the beach from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The next beach cleaning dates are June 11, July 9, August 3 and September 10. Volunteers should dress for the weather and bring their own snacks and water. Register online at thewatershedalliance.org/events.

Love Street Playhouse, 126 Loves Ave., Woodland, presents the comedy “The Explorers Club” in person at the theater. Sessions are at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday May 26, 27 and 28 and at 2 p.m. on Sunday and May 29. The Arctic Institute, bastion of old gentlemen, is going through difficult times. The club is the beneficiary of Tom’s large life insurance policy if he dies in an accident. He did not do it. How can the club give the impression that they did?
