UL Alumni plans a virtual and silent fundraiser

A beach getaway, art and jewelry are among more than a hundred items up for grabs in the University of Louisiana’s virtual silent auction at Lafayette Alumni Association.

Online auction for the celebration of the alumni association [u7061146.ct.sendgrid.net] The auction will start at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 3 and end at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 12.

Offer Items [u7061146.ct.sendgrid.net] will also include attractions for food lovers. One is a dinner for six at Café Sydnie Mae prepared by Chef Kim Nuzum. University athletic director Dr. Bryan Maggard and his wife Kerry will join the group.

Other items for sale to the highest bidder include:

  • a week’s stay at an oceanfront condominium in Orange Beach, Florida;
  • a weekend getaway to Austin, Texas;
  • over $ 500 in gift certificates to “Eat Around Acadiana” at local restaurants; and
  • a two-hour dolphin tour from Ho2 Pensacola Dolphin Tours, Pontoons and More in Gulf Breeze, Florida.

The alumni association [u7061146.ct.sendgrid.net] Usually holds live, silent auctions at its Spring Gala, an annual in-person event. Proceeds from the gala are used for the initiatives of the Alumni Association and for the maintenance and improvement of its facilities.

This year’s auction will be held as part of a celebration of the Alumni Association, said John Claude Arceneaux, interim executive director of the Alumni Association.

“State-imposed bans on gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic – and uncertainty over when those bans will end – have prevented the gala from being held this year,” Arceneaux said.

As part of the celebration, photos of the Alumni Association’s past events and video interviews with alumni will be posted to its social media accounts each day during the auction.

“We will highlight the history and traditions of the Alumni Association and introduce some of the people who helped shape it,” Arceneaux said.
