United Way’s Land of Wondrous Trees Gears Up for Live Auction

GLEN JEAN, WV (WVNS) – A popular fundraiser for United Way of Southern West Virginia is underway in Fayette County.

If you want to immerse yourself in the holiday spirit, the Wonderland of Trees auction is the place to be! More than 30 Christmas trees were decorated by local businesses to be auctioned Friday night. All proceeds will go to the United Way, and that money stays in Southern West Virginia, helping families in need. United Way serves communities in Raleigh, Fayette, Nicholas, Wyoming, Summers, Mercer and McDowell counties, as well as the town of Bluefield, Virginia.

“Funds raised in these counties remain within this coverage area to support the agencies and the direct services we provide. So baby pantries, recovery programs, pantries, childhood enrichment – these are some of the things we partner with, ”said Trena Dacal, Executive Director of United Way of Southern West Virginia.

The live auction will take place on Friday, November 19 at 6 p.m. at the JW Marriott Leadership Center on the grounds of the Summit Bechtel Reserve.
