Weirton Kiwanis Club ready for online auction fundraiser | News, Sports, Jobs

WEIRTON — The Weirton Kiwanis Club is preparing to launch its 65-plus-year fundraising tradition — the annual John B. Sorrenti Sr. Auction.

The club’s fundraising continues again this year in the form of an online Facebook auction with bidding opening at noon on Monday and continuing until 9pm on Wednesday.

“This is the second year we’ve had it online after 68 years of our annual radio auction, which we haven’t been able to continue,” explained Ernie Nicholas, president of the Weirton Kiwanis Club.

The auction event page can be found by visiting and clicking on the event named Weirton Kiwanis Facebook Auction 2022.

Items to bid on will be displayed in the “Discussion” section.

While the auction is live, bidding will take place by bidding for each item under the specific item’s image. For most items, bidding will start at half the value of each item and increase by one dollar.

At auction close, the highest bid commented under each item will win the item. The highest bidders will be announced on the event page on April 29.

Winning bidders will be responsible for paying and picking up their winning item on May 2 at the Holiday Inn in Weirton from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Payment will be received for the bid amount in the form of cash or check payable to Weirton Kiwanis Club.

“The Weirton Kiwanis Club would like to thank the many generous donations received from local businesses, clubs and individuals,” Nicholas commented.

All proceeds benefit Weirton Kiwanis Club community projects. Any questions regarding the Facebook auction can be directed to Nicholas at (304) 479-0235.
