Wrexham: Prizes offered at silent auction for Cancer Group


A host of prizes, including autographed football shirts and tickets to golf in North Wales, are up for grabs in a silent auction.

The Wrexham Prostate Cancer Support Group has teamed up with senior executives from the Maelor Hospital Golf Society to organize a charity auction.

The aim is to raise funds to enable the purchase of a £60,000 cryotherapy machine to support patients at Maelor Hospital in Wrexham.

The groups recently held a golf day at Clays and are ready to continue their fundraising efforts.

Iwan Bonds, Head of Kidney Services at Maelor Hospital, said: ‘We have just jointly hosted a hugely successful day of golf and we are optimistic about the profits from the auction, this will help the cancer support group prostate to get closer to achieving their target amount.

Prizes on offer include a signed Wrexham shirt from last season, a shirt worn by Wrexham FC from 1993 signed by Joey Jones, Dixie McNeil, Mickey Thomas, Arfon Griffiths, Dave Smallman, Barry Horne, Wayne Phillips and Steve Watkin.

Everton FC also donated a full-team autographed shirt.

There are two game tickets located at Carlsberg Dug Out for a game next season at Anfield to see Liverpool. As well as two tickets to the International Lounge at Old Trafford to see Man Utd.

Area golf clubs provided invitation vouchers to host four players as guests. Courses include Chester Golf Club (Curzon), Conwy Golf Club, Helsby, Henllys, Llandudno, Marriott Hotel Worsley Manchester, Mold, Old Padeswood, Oswestry Golf Club, Padeswood & Buckley, Portal, Porthmadog, Vale of Llangollen and Wrexham.

There is also an overnight stay at Jubilee House, Wrexham, including 2 rounds of golf with a buggy at Clays Golf Club, up for grabs.

There is even a bottle of champagne signed Boris Johnson.

You can bid on multiple items as long as you identify the bid amount for each item.

A reserve price has been set for each auction price.

The highest bidder will win the prize and it will be announced on Saturday June 18, 2022.
